Going live and watching lives

A live is a real-time broadcast. The host is on camera, viewers watch and comment, and the host can invite viewers up to appear alongside them.

Watching

Open a live from the Live tab or from a link. You can watch without an account for a short while — a couple of minutes — after which you are asked to sign in. Signed in, you can watch as long as it runs.

While watching you can:

• Comment. Comments appear to everyone, host included.
• React. Tapping the heart sends a burst everyone sees. Taps are batched, so hold as long as you like.
• Send a gift, if gifts are available to you, to the host or to any guest on stage.

Asking to join the stream

Tap Request to ask the host to bring you on. The host sees your request with your name and picture and can accept or refuse it. Nothing happens to your camera or microphone until they accept.

When you are accepted you come on stage muted, with your camera off. Turning either on is your own decision — nobody can switch them on for you.

Once on stage you can leave at any time with Leave, which puts you back to watching. The host can also remove you, or mute your microphone.

If you asked and nothing happened, ask again: a request can expire, and re-requesting is free.

Hosting

Start from the Live tab. Give the stream a title and a category, and you are on.

As the host you can:

• See and answer join requests — accept a viewer to bring them on stage, or refuse.
• Pin a comment so it stays visible above the rest.
• Remove a comment you do not want up.
• Ban a viewer from your stream.
• Mute a guest, or remove them from the stage.
• Share a photo or clip into the stream from your gallery, with your camera as a small window over it.

Ending the stream ends it for everyone. You can reopen the app and rejoin your own stream if you lose connection — it stays live while you reconnect.
