Recording and publishing a video

Updated 2026-08-21 · Applies to: iPhoneAndroid

The Create studio — Capture, Shape, Publish — and what each step lets you do.

Recording and publishing a video

Tap the in the middle of the tab bar. The Create studio has three steps.

1 · Capture

  • Record clips with the big record ring; clips stack into a timeline you can reorder or delete.
  • Upload from your gallery instead, or mix both.
  • Modes: Camera, Voice, Text, Music.
  • Duration: 15s, 60s, 3 min, or LIVE.
  • Flip, flash, speed and a timer are on the viewfinder.

2 · Shape

Trim and reorder clips, add text, stickers and captions, pick or change the sound, and choose filters. Captions you add here are also what the accessibility reader uses.

3 · Publish

  • Write the caption and hashtags.
  • Pick a Scene to post into (optional, but it's how Scene feeds find you).
  • Choose whether to share your city on this video.
  • Set who can Echo it: everyone, followers, or nobody.
  • Choose who can see it: public, followers, or a Scene only.
  • If your account is on both apps, choose whether it also appears on Ontryst.

Drafts

Leaving the studio offers to save a draft. Drafts are on your device, under the drafts icon at the top of Create, until you publish or delete them.

After publishing

Processing takes a moment — the video appears on your profile immediately and in feeds once it's ready. You can edit the caption, Scene and Echo setting afterwards; the video itself can't be edited once it's live, only deleted.
