Creating your account

Updated 2026-08-21 · Applies to: iPhoneAndroid

How signing up works, why there is no password, and what you are asked for.

Creating your account

You need a phone number and a minute. There is no password to invent or remember.

How sign-in works

Tubaar uses a one-time code instead of a password. Enter your phone number, we text you a short code, you type it back. Every sign-in works the same way.

The phone number on the account is your way back in. If you're changing numbers, do it while you can still receive codes on the old one. If a code doesn't arrive, see I didn't get my sign-in code.

Same account as Ontryst

Tubaar runs on the same identity as Ontryst. If you already have an Ontryst account, sign in to Tubaar with the same number — no second signup, same credentials. Your Tubaar activity (videos, Echoes, Scenes, follows) stays in Tubaar unless you choose to publish a video to both.

What you're asked for

  • Your name — what people see. It doesn't have to be your legal name.
  • A handle — your @name on videos and Echoes.
  • Your birthday — Tubaar is 13+, and this is how that's enforced. If you're under 18 you get a protected experience (limited messaging and discoverability). Only your age range is ever used, never the date.
  • A photo — optional at signup, recommended before you post.

Everything except your birthday can be changed later.

After signing up

  1. Follow a few creators and join a Scene — Following and your Scene feeds start there.
  2. Allow notifications, or you'll only find out about Echoes and replies by opening the app. See I'm not getting notifications.

Age and conduct

Tubaar is for people aged 13 and over. Accounts that appear to belong to children under 13 are removed. What is and isn't allowed is in the Community Guidelines; the Terms of Service cover the rest.
